Telekom Austria made TV gains in its first half and second quarter results but reported a decline in revenues, which it attributed to regulatory burdens, fierce competition and macroeconomic headwinds in CEE.

The launch of its new A1 tariff in Austria led to bundle subscriber growth in Q2 of 1.04 million, of which 227,800 are TV customers, compared to 206,300 in the same period last year.

“Convergence as well as internet and TV upselling partly compensate effects of voice loss,” Austria Telekom said.

In Bulgaria, where the firm owns MTel, TV subscriber figures in Q2 reached 73,000, up from 41,700 in Q2 2012.

Croatian TV subscriber numbers, where the firm owns Croatia VIP, were also up in the quarter to 149,800, compared to 120,000 in Q2 2012.

Overall revenues in the quarter were €1.043 billion, down 1.9% year-on-year. EBITDA was down 9.5% to €330.3 million. However, net income was up 54.2% year-on-year to €52.5 million.
