Video compression specialist ATEME has named Karen McCone as its vice president of media accounts for the Americas region.
McCone has more than 20 years of senior leadership experience with companies as diverse as Aldea Solutions, Kangaroo TV, Verisign, Pittsburgh International Teleport, Invidex, Microcell Telecommunications and Spectra Telecommunications.
"ATEME is quickly becoming a force to be reckoned with in high performance video encoding solutions," said Mike Antonovich, senior vice president and GM for the Americas at ATEME. "Karen is a testament that our world-class expertise is attracting some of the best and brightest in our industry. We are delighted that she has accepted the invitation to join our customer service-driven team, and we will look to her to provide the type of outstanding service the world's media companies have come to expect from ATEME."
McCone has taken an active part in launching major compressed digital video networks across Europe and the Americas, the company said. She also was involved in delivering prominent events such as the 2010 FIFA World Cup, the 2011 Pan American Games and the 2012 London Olympics to broadcasters in Latin America.
In her new role, she will bring the ATEME compressed digital video solutions to major media clients across Canada and the north-east United States. She will continue to build upon the relationships she has developed through the years of customer service excellence in satellite, cable, fibre and broadband service and the emerging opportunities in streaming and file-based media deployments.
