Los Angeles- and London-based TV format company Small World IFT has licensed the reality format Chef at Your Door in Poland, where public broadcaster TVP has commissioned a local version for launch next month.
The 10 x 45 minute series, which is being produced by Warsaw-based producer Rochstar, will air weekly on TVP1 from September. Known locally as Sąsiad na Widelcu, Chef at Your Door will see host Łukasz Grass as he travels across the country challenging families and neighbours to create a masterpiece meal alongside celebrity chefs Ewa Olejniczak and Robert Sowa. Using only what they have in their kitchen, alongside the two new ingredients, families must work together with a top chef to create a masterpiece dinner in record time. Their work is judged by five of their neighbours, and the winner takes home a prize.
Originally created by Germany's Tresor TV, this is the latest international commission for Small World's Chef at Your Door. A local version recently aired in France, on the Gulli television network, where it doubled the audience ratings year-on-year in its timeslot. The series is now being developed as a stripped programme for access slots.
"Chef at Your Door offers a highly cost-effective production solution for local adaptation, whilst also offering broadcasters fantastic opportunities for brand integration," said Rinke Rooyens, CEO of Rochstar. "It's a perfect fit for the family viewing demographic of TVP1 and we're delighted to play a part in bringing this great new series to Poland's screens."
Tim Crescenti, president at Small World IFT, added: "We're thrilled to see Chef at Your Door's international success story continue – its blend of celebrity culinary appeal with community spirit makes it a deliciously entertaining series for the whole family. Rinke and the team at Rochstar are experts in developing globally renowned formats for their local audience, and we're looking forward to seeing the families of Poland showcasing their tastiest dishes."
