Swiss cable operators recorded strong growth in Q2 2013 with their Internet and telephone services.
On 30 June, 1.01 million households were signed up for broadband Internet access via cable – an increase of 11.8% compared with 12 months ago, according to Swiss cable association Swisscable. The number of telephony customers rose by 14.6% to 600,300.
With 2.7 million households and a market share of 68%, a cable subscription remained by far the most used way for TV reception in Switzerland. The IPTV platform Swisscom followed with 902,000 customers (23% market share).
DTH satellite reception was used by 315,000 households (8% market share) while 60,000 households were signed up for IPTV platform Sunrise TV (2%). 35,000 households (1%) chose DTT.
