Sky Business has selected Monterosa to create the Sky Sports Pub Challenge app, which has launched with the 2013/2014 Barclays Premier League football season.
The free downloadable app is available exclusively to pub and club-goers watching live Sky Sports Barclays Premier League football in licensed venues. The free app is designed to drive profitable footfall, while also creating unique match-day experiences for pub and club-goers.
Upon downloading the app, football fans can use the 'pub finder' to locate their nearest Sky Sports venue. On arrival, they check-in to their pub or club to start engaging in the pre- and post-match trivia and in-play predictions to score points before, during and after the match.
All questions answered correctly give players points, which accumulate during the season – fuelling a competitive-punter spirit. The app is curated live by a Sky Sports Games Master.
''We're launching our Sky Sports Pub Challenge app as part of our commitment to investing in helping licensees to get the most out of Sky Sports for their venues," said David Rey, managing director at Sky Business. "By creating a unique point of interest and the best possible entertainment experience, it will help to drive profitable footfall to our customers' venues ahead of the games, encourage people to stay longer after matches and to return for future games."
The partnership is the latest Sky licence for Monterosa's LViS Studio, a platform for creating and deploying second-screen apps that enhance entertainment, sport and advertising on TV.
''LViS Studio is made for TV producers who need to manage the second screen in a similar way to the first," explained Tom McDonnell, Monterosa's commercial director. "Using LViS APIs, Sky has made a unique app for football fans and we're all looking forward to playing along during the season."
