Qinhuandao Broadcast Network, part of the Hebei Broadcast Network Group in China, has selected Envivio Muse encoding software installed on Envivio 4Caster G4 appliances for its new video services.
Muse encoders are being deployed to power Qinhuandao’s multiscreen and time-shifted TV service that will offer HD and SD video channels to connected TVs, set-top boxes, PCs, tablets and mobile phones.
Envivio enables the service provider to stream video in various formats and resolutions, from HDTV to bandwidth-efficient profiles for smartphones, all from the same encoder.
Shengli Han, Envivio vice president of China sales, said: “Operators are turning to Envivio solutions because they are flexible enough to support services from HDTV to mobile, and provide the functionality and cost savings required. Our Muse encoders on the Envivio G4 Intel-based appliance meet the needs of Qinhuandao Broadcast Network and provide a foundation for future expansion.”
Envivio’s software-based encoders, installed on Intel-based appliances or on blade servers in a datacentre/cloud environment, are designed to support the full range of codecs, resolutions and profiles, including latest generation HEVC (H.265) compression as well as AVC (H.264) and MPEG-2. For mobile applications, content can be streamed in Apple HTTP Live Streaming (HLS), Microsoft Smooth Streaming, Adobe HTTP Dynamic Streaming (HDS) or MPEG-DASH formats.
More than 300 content and service providers around the world have selected Envivio to power their any-screen TV services.
