Telefónica will use Front Porch Digital's LYNX storage management service to offer its cloud-based services in Spain, Portugal and South America.
The French and the Spanish companies came to an agreement at the end of July under which Front Porch will power Telefónica's cloud solution which focuses on broadcasters with large archive management needs.
"Front Porch Digital has been a global leader in the content storage management for over ten years and because it's always innovating, it ensures their solutions are future-proof. LYNX is a perfect example of these key advantages we hope to leverage in our new partnership," said Martín Parilla Sánchez, head of digital product market for Telefónica Spain.
Rino Petricola, senior vice president at Front Porch Digital, added: "This partnership with one of the world's largest telecom operators clearly positions our company at the convergence point between broadcast and broadband, and opens up new opportunities for deploying our LYNX services."
Telefónica is clearly banking on cloud computing, a market which it is estimated will generate $200,000 million in business next year. In addition to this agreement to improve its cloud broadcasting services, the Spanish telco has opened a new data centre in Madrid in which it will invest over €300 million in the coming years to develop and improve its current cloud-based systems.
