The variety of digital terrestrial channels in Munich continues to grow with DMAX launching on 2 September in the Bavarian Capital and its surroundings on DTT channel 34.
Bavarian media authority BLM has granted DMAX preliminary permission for DTT distribution. The board will decide on a long-term licence at its assembly in October.
The free-to-air channel operated by Discovery Networks, which targets men between 14 and 49, is the sixth TV channel which has recently opted for DTT distribution in Munich. The latest additions are 1-2-3.tv, sixx, Tele 5 and Sat.1 Gold. ProSieben Maxx will follow on 3 September.
The capacity was vacated through the DTT retreat of commercial broadcast group Mediengruppe RTL Deutschland on 31 July. The other DTT regions throughout Germany will follow by the end of 2014.
