Tricolor TV is planning to launch its own package of premium film channels this autumn.
According to TelecomDaily and AKTR, it will make its debut on October 1 and the company, which is Russia’s leading DTH platform, is already in talks with other operators about distributing the package.
One of the channels – SuperKino HD – will allocate 70% of its airtime to “class A and A+” movies not previously seen on Russian TV.
Tricolor TV has an agreement in place with Walt Disney and is in negotiations with MGM, Paramount and other studios.
Tricolor TV expects to sign up 100,000 subscribers to the package, which will be competing for viewers with Viasat’s HD channels, by the end of the year.
