In season opener, No. 9 Alaska-Anchorage takes all three spots

Saturday: No. 9 Alaska-Anchorage at BYU Hawaii Alaska Anchorage commenced the 2013 slate with dual victories against BYU-Hawaii with an individual win by junior Dylan Anthony on Saturday.
In the menís 5K, Anthony, a 2012 All-American, collected his first collegiate win with a time of 15:22. Junior Isaac Kangogo finished runner-up at 15:29, while freshman Victor Samoei made his cross country debut in third at 15:44.
Another rookie earning his stripes was Michael Mendenhall crossing the line in 16:02. The lone Seasider to crack the top five was Clayton Kearl (16:08), displacing sophomore Andrey Ionashku, who took sixth at 16:14.
The Seawolves will continue their competition in Hawaii with the Chaminade Invitational on Sept. 7.
