Technicolor and co-development partner Mercury Filmworks will unveil their latest 2D animated preschool series Chamelia at the upcoming Cartoon Forum (17-20 September) and MIP Jr./MIPCOM (5-10 October).
Based on the book series from author Ethan Long, the project is currently in development on 52x11' episodes based around six-year-old chameleon Chamelia who, contrary to the nature of chameleons, would rather stand out than blend in.
Set in the town of Camouflage, this series celebrates the joys of being unique, as the central character experiences familiar childhood situations at school, in the playground, at the park and at home.
Children's media veteran John Lomas-Bullivant is supervising the overall development of the new series.
Technicolor's digital productions division launched its original content development initiative in 2010 and is currently in development on several projects in addition to Chamelia, including Atomic Puppet, also a co-production with Mercury Filmworks, and The Deep, based on the graphic novel series from Tom Taylor and James Brouwer.
