UPC Cablecom will remove eight TV channels from its analogue line-up in German-speaking Switzerland on 16 October to make room for new HD channels.
The affected channels are TV5 Monde, France 2, Euronews, RAI Uno, MTV Schweiz, ORF 2, Eurosport and CNN. The cable network will then carry only 25 analogue channels.
In return, new channels will be added to the digital basic package which all customers can receive unencrypted. They include the new Swiss entertainment channel S1 TV as well as Star TV HD, MTV HD, Nickelodeon HD, Comedy Central HD, TF1 HD, France 2 HD and M6 HD. The basic package will then contain more than 60 digital TV channels of which 27 are offered in high definition.
The subscription packages will be expanded by 17 new HD channels, including RTL Living HD, Passion HD, Nat Geo Wild HD, Kinowelt HD and BonGusto HD.
UPC Cablecom has informed its customers about the changes on a dedicated website.
