Technicolor has announced the signing of a contract extension with DirecTV, in order to continue the development and offering of HD set-top boxes (STBs) and home video services for another three years.
The French company has been providing STBs for DirecTV for the past 20 years. The deal with one of the largest pay-TV operators in the Americas has also brought growth to Technicolor, which last year was placed as the second largest worldwide STB provider in an Infonetics' report.
"Technicolor has been a strategic business partner for DirecTV for over two decades and has been a supplier in every set-top box product category available for DirecTV," said Barbara Bessolo, SVP and head of Technicolor's connected home Americas.
"We look forward to continuing our relationship and our leadership position as we enter new frontiers of innovation in the delivery of the best television viewing experience to our subscribers throughout the United States and Latin America," said Henry Derovanessian, SVP, hardware engineering at DirecTV. "Technicolor has consistently delivered the reliable, high quality products we need in order to remain at the forefront of the satellite television industry."
