Mobile multimedia player provider NexStreaming is collaborating with high definition (HD) audio company DTS to provide enhanced mobile audio for television viewing on Android and iOS smartphones and tablets.
"We are excited to be working with NexStreaming to extend DTS-HD support within their NexPlayer SDK," said Mark Johnson, vice president, streaming and media solutions, DTS.
"This announcement presents streaming services the opportunity to deliver high quality DTS surround sound to a broader mobile customer base."
NexPlayer SDK secures HD video for all devices, regardless of model or operating system, for the most common protocols such as HLS and Microsoft Smooth Streaming.
DTS-HD, meanwhile, is a high performance audio codec, optimised for streaming
services and capable of delivering content to consumers in surround sound.

"As people use smartphones and tablets to watch TV and video more and more, there are more demands in high quality audio on mobile devices," said Carlos Lucas, vice president, NexStreaming.
"With market proven NexPlayer's video solution and mobile audio solution from DTS, broadcasters and over-the-top content providers will give the greatest mobile multimedia experience to their customers."
