Claro is to bring its over-the-top service to Chile, as it has done in many other Latin American countries including Brazil, Mexico or Colombia. The platform, Clarovideo, aims to compete with other OTT services, mainly Netflix.
Claro, which was also the first operator to launch an LTE service in Chile, intends to offer Clarovideo everywhere and on every screen. The platform will have over 3,000 pieces of HD audiovisual content, including movies, series, kids' programming and even karaoke. The offer will be available through subscription but with much of the content including premieres being also available on-demand.
According to Vady Guerra, product and strategy manager at Claro, the platform will also be available to pre-paid and subscription mobile clients. They will be able to use the 4G network – currently only operating in Santiago, Concepción and Punta Arenas – to access the service.
