Seven sponsors have been confirmed by Star Sports as partners for its television coverage of the Champions League T20 cricket tournament.
The Champions League T20 (CL20) - which will mark the last time legends Sachin Tendulkar, Rahul Dravid and M S Dhoni play together in the format - will be broadcast until 6 October on Star Cricket, Star Sports and Star Cricket HD. The first and last matches of the tournament are being simultaneously broadcast on the network’s Hindi film channel Star Gold, in what is a first for the broadcast of non-movie content.
Star Sports and Star Cricket HD will provide English commentary of the ten-team contest, while Star Cricket and Star Gold will be in Hindi.
“We are very confident about the success of the tournament as we have representation from top four IPL teams and the champion teams from leading cricket playing nations across the world. The Indian cricket team has not been in action for almost two months now. This gap of cricket, we believe, will also attract more viewers to the CLT20 fold," said Vijay Rajput, chief operating officer, ESPN Software India.
Karbonn Mobiles has renewed its on-air co-presenting sponsorship from last year’s event, and is joined by associate sponsors Pernod Ricard, Bharat Business Channel (Videocon D2H), Panasonic, Toshiba India and Aortal Broadband.
Karbonn is also the on-ground title sponsor for this year’s CLT20, accompanied by Panasonic, Britannia, Panasonic TV and Jayvee Cements.
