Underlying online video's increasing strategic importance, FremantleMedia is partnering with one of Europe's leading multi-channel networks to reinforce its position as a leading content producer on YouTube.
The first step in the partnership with Divimove will see FremantleMedia acquire a minority stake in Germany's second-largest MCN which provides creators on YouTube with tools for monetising their content, technical support and analysis, and marketing and cross promotion support.
Divimove currently hosts over 950 YouTube channel content creators, generating over 150 million monthly views, and Fremantle says the partnership will allow Divimove to benefit from its extensive experience in IP development, content production, talent management, sponsorship and cross promotional activity. YouTube has been fertile ground for Fremantle already, with the production house claiming to be the most viewed of any television producer, network, or movie studio worldwide with 79.7 million monthly unique users in June 2013 and over 4.5 billion views of FremantleMedia content globally in 2012.
"This is an important step in our strategic goal to become the leading creator, producer and distributor of content on emerging digital platforms, commented FremantleMedia CEO Digital and Branded Entertainment Keith Hindle. "We've had great success in creating market-leading digital extensions of our TV properties, and are now keen to work closely with Divimove who bring a network of talented content creators producing for new digital platforms. We have been very impressed by the skill and passion of the management team and look forward to helping them build on their success."
Divimove CEO, Brian Ruhe, added: "Partnering with the leading TV content producer will allow us to extend our value add towards our most important stakeholders, the creators. This partnership will enable Divimove to become more active in the creation and roll-out of new YouTube formats supported by its most successful creators."
