Dedicated cricket channel CricOne is to be rebranded and broadcast in high definition on 1 October, following the takeover of the Pehla bouquet of South Asian channels by the pan-Arab pay-TV platform OSN in August.

The 24-hour OSN Sports Cricket HD channel will cover the prestigious Indian Premier League (IPL) and International Cricket Council (ICC) cricket tournaments, including the 2014 ICC World T20 and the 2015 ICC World Cup.
“When we acquired Pehla, our promise was to provide more value to subscribers. The launch of OSN Sports Cricket HD demonstrates our continued commitment to sports fans across the region by offering the very best in cricket with an unmatched viewing experience,” said David Butorac, chief executive officer, OSN.

Andy Warkman, VP sport & production, OSN, added: “With the acquisition of Pehla, OSN’s slate of cricket rights now includes all major events and series and from our perspective the only way to watch cricket is in high definition.

“With the ICC World T20 qualifiers being held in the UAE this November and the ICC U19 Cricket World Cup also in the UAE in 2014, this is an exciting time for cricket in the region and OSN will be at the forefront.”
MENA-based cricket fans will be able to watch Australia and the West Indies in India during the remainder of 2013, as well as India’s series against New Zealand. The Ashes also resumes between Australia and England, with OSN Sports Cricket HD capturing the action from down under.
In 2014, the channel will cover the Indian Premier League, ICC World Twenty20, Champions League T20, Big Bash league, Caribbean Premier League and all India, England, Australia and New Zealand home series.

Subscribers on the go can also enjoy OSN Sports Cricket HD via OSN Play where the channel will be streamed live alongside OSN Sports 1 HD and OSN Sports 2 HD.
