Hispasat is aiming to launch the Amazonas 4A satellite before the end of the year. In an interview with EFE, Carlos Espinós, Hispasat's CEO, explained that demand in Latin America is clearly increasing and that with the World Cup and the Olympics so close, the company needs to make an extra effort to bring the launch forward.
The Latin American network will receive most of the €1,000 million which Hispasat plans to invest in satellites through to 2016. Amazonas 4A will probably be launched in December, and Amazonas 4B is already being designed. The first satellite aims to cover the video DTH demand in the region, focusing on 4K, while the second will offer broadband connections.
