MIPCOM 2013: Zodiak Rights sells Braquo to Russia

Zodiak Rights has closed the sale of the adaption rights for the first two seasons of the TV police series Braquo to Russian Channel One. The network also snatched the first two seasons of the series.

This deal for the Capa Drama series commissioned by Canal+ represents Channel One's first ever acquisition of a French scripted drama format.

Launching the third season of the series at MIPCOM 2013, Zodiak also signed deals with Red Bull Media House's Servus TV in Germany, and Australia's Foxtel. Additionally, the DVD and VOD rights were bought by Studio Hamburg for a 2013/early 2014 release.

Braquo has been sold in over 80 countries, Zodiak said.

Zodiak Rights also handles the distribution of the French series The Returned, which has been nominated for the Best Drama Series International in the Emmy Awards. The series has just been acquired by HBO Latin America and Studio Canal in Germany.

MIPCOM also saw the start of pre-sales for the political thriller Occupied, created by Jo Nesbo and produced by Yellow Bird, GTV for TV2 and Arte. The 10 x 45' series will be shot in March 2014 for broadcast in 2014.

"Scripted is an essential element of Zodiak's plans for the future, with the idea to expand into distribution and international co-productions," said newly appointed Zodiak Media CEO Marc-Antoine d'Halluin who will take up the position next week.
