eircom offers new IPTV service free for first six months

Irish TV eyes are smiling as incumbent telco eircom has launched its new eVision TV service with a deal giving away the first six months for free.
Delivered through eFibre, eircom’s optical broadband service, eVision is claimed to mark the first time that Irish consumers can now get all their entertainment and communications needs - landline, broadband, mobile and television - from one Irish provider. eVision offers basic customers 34 channels, including all the Irish channels, BBC, Channel Four, Discovery Channel, GOLD, Setanta Ireland, MTV and Film 4.
The service comes with a free eVision+ set-top box and includes features such as the ability to pause and rewind live TV,the ability to record two channels at the same time, up to 240 hours of recording space and one touch record. eircom added that the new service also has a unique user-friendly on-screen guide.
