Digital and content fulfilment facility Loft London has entered into a partnership with Cinelabs International to create a complete end-to-end offering for the film restoration and distribution market.
Owning laboratories in London, Athens and Bucharest, Cinelabs International provides digital and film-related services for their clients as one seamless workflow. These include negative developing, bulk printing, scanning and recording as well as digital dailies, on-location services and digital cinema mastering.
The two media companies say their agreement means that Loft London is now in a position to offer film restoration and fulfilment services, whilst Cinelabs can exploit Loft’s file and tape-based platforms. In addition, they say that those acquiring content on film will now have an option to work with trusted specialists to re-master, restore, manage and deliver content through a global digital media hub.
Loft’s facilities will be linked to Cinelabs laboratories, where film content from Loft’s clients can be restored, re-mastered and then stored on Loft London’s Cubix end-to-end workflow platform. This, says the firm, will then allow clients not only to monitor progress and content, but also to interact with their content through to delivery. For example, clients could extend their content to broadcasters and over-the-top (OTT) service platforms.
Commenting on the new partnership, Adrian Bull, CTO of Cinelabs International, said: “Since starting Cinelabs International this summer, I have been keen to develop a world-class network of collaborative facilities that can provide first class solutions and services to international media clients. This significant partnership with Loft London will extend our specialist services, providing impressive asset management, file and tape-based services to our clients.”
“A collaboration between Loft and Cinelabs is an excellent strategic fit for both companies, enabling us both to add additional services and workflow solutions to our clients,” added David Barrett, CEO of Loft London. “With Cinelab’s vast film experience and Loft’s innovative digital workflow, we are excited to announce this long term partnership and look forward to working together, helping content owners deliver their acquired content whether it is on film, data or video.”
