Spanish-language network Telemundo Media is wading into the TV everywhere fray with the Telemundo Now app, which will give access to Telemundo episodes the day after they air on iPhone, iPad and Android smartphones and tablets.
Authenticated subscribers of participating cable, satellite and telco providers (which include AT&T U-verse TV, Cablevision's Optimum TV, Charter, Comcast's Xfinity TV, Cox Communications, DIRECTV, DISH, Mediacom, Suddenlink and Verizon FiOS) can download the free app at the App Store and Google Play. It offers HD programming via a portal that seamlessly adjusts to the size of the user's screen.
Telemundo is the fourth network within NBCUniversal to provide this offering, which marks an important step in NBCU's long-term multiscreen strategy, it said. According to Nielsen, 68% of Hispanics in the US own a smartphone and spend 11% more time watching mobile video than the general population.
"Telemundo Now demonstrates Telemundo's investment in creating the best platforms to serve our digitally savvy viewers," said Peter Blacker, executive vice president for Digital & Emerging Businesses at Telemundo Media. "As our audiences embrace new mobile and Web viewing technologies, we are dedicated to delivering the most enhanced high quality viewing experience whenever they want, on the screen of their choice."
