PSG signs Base79 to grow brand globally on YouTube

Base79, YouTube's largest partner outside the US, has partnered with Qatar-owned football club Paris Saint-Germain to manage, adapt and stream revenues from its football videos at both a global and local level.

The deal will enable PSG to continue to grow its brand globally by claiming content, building audiences and driving viewing across YouTube, as well as enabling PSG to monetise its online video content. The French Ligue 1 football club currently has over 73,000 subscribers on YouTube.

Whilst PSG's YouTube channel is currently in French, all new content will be in English and the current content will be translated to enable the club to realise its ambition of connecting to and growing its international audience.

PSG will also leverage Base79's network of over 200 sports channels with an active audience of more than 2.5 million subscribers to drive views and grow the club's audience on the YouTube platform.

Base79's goal is to "help energise and grow PSG's video contents from highlights of Zlatan's goals, to behind the scenes access and previews of matches, thanks to its existing sporting roster including the Football Association, the French Football Federation and Sport Relief."

PSG is the largest European football club to team up with Base79. The company already partners with UK club Aston Villa, as well as with The Football Association, IMG Worldwide, the French Football Federation, the Premiership Rugby, the Women's Tennis Association and Giro D'Italia.

Base79 will set up offices in continental Europe throughout 2014 and beyond.

The network generates over 700 million views per month across 1,400 channels on YouTube, making it the largest YouTube multi-channel network outside North America.
