Another six Indian channels have been added to the bouquet of South Asian content offered by Canadian broadcaster Asian Television Network (ATN) on Bell Fibe TV.
Four of the six are from public broadcaster Doordarshan (DD), namely: the general interest channel DD India; DD News; cultural and lifestyle channel DD Bharati; and DD Urdu. The remaining two – comedy channel Dhammal, and music channel Masti – are from Sri Adhikari Brothers Television Network (SAB TV).
"We are delighted to be associated with the launch of India's official national broadcaster Doordarshan which is similar to the BBC in the UK and CBC in Canada. We are also delighted to launch two popular Hindi Channels Dhammal and Masti from Sri Adhikari Brothers in India who founded the ever popular SAB TV which is currently owned by Sony," said Dr Shan Chandrasekar, president and CEO, ATN.
"We have aggressive plans to add substantial value to our diaspora and enhance our strong customer base on a consumer oriented pick and pay model across Canada," he added.
ATN launched DD Sports earlier in 2013, and this recent deal takes to five the number of Doordarshan channels carried by the network.
