Swedish provider of broadcasting solutions, Net Insight, has been selected by a Latin American operator for a service expansion. The operator, whose name has not been disclosed, has chosen the company's Nimbra MSR platform to extend its contribution and distribution network.
The network expansion will enable transport of JPEG2000 compressed video services over IP, which makes the distribution of high quality video streams more viable regardless of broadband availability.
This avoids the possible problems generated by uncompressed video, whose transportation has many advantages in the production chain, but whose contribution and distribution applications may be problematic due to bandwidth demand. The Nimbra MSR solution will provide a flexible service for local broadcasters.
The Swedish company will deliver the technology before the end of the year, and the deal is valued at nearly €1 million.
"The order shows our leading position in video transport in Latin America," says Fredrik Tumegård, CEO of Net Insight. "Our customers are preparing for the coming major sports events on this continent."
Net Insights delivers transport solutions for broadcast and IP media, DTT and IPTV/CATV networks. The Nimbra platform is the industry solution for video, voice and data, reducing cost and enhancing competitiveness in delivering existing and new media services.
