Troubled Spanish media giant Prisa has insisted that its efforts in cost control are continuing, despite pay-TV revenues failing to compensate for the higher cost of football rights.

The Canal Plus pay-TV business increased revenues by 11.6%, but EBITDA fell by 84.6%. 867 million revenues delivered just 25 million EBITDA.

DTH subs have reached 7,818 and 15,087 positive net adds in August and September respectively. The third quarter of 2013 was the first with a positive gain in subscribers since the first quarter of 2012.

The satellite platform has 1,634,000 subscribers; other platforms bring in a further 123,000. 613,000 subscribers have the iPlus DVR.

Satellite subscribers stood at an average ARPU of 42.5. Online YOMVI subscribers now stand at 25.3% of Satellite subscribers (compared to 13.2% at September 2012), with 2.61 million monthly downloads.
