HD+ expands TV catch-up service

Astra satellite operator SES has added four further catch-up services from German commercial free-to-air broadcasters to HD+ Replay, HD+'s catch-up platform for German DTH households.
Viewers can now also watch TV programmes they missed from Sat.1, ProSieben, kabel eins and DMAX after their first full length broadcast on TV.
HD+ Replay already contains the catch-up services of RTL, VOX, Super RTL and n-tv, and a further expansion is planned. In contrast to access via the Internet, the commercial broadcasters' catch-up services are not free-of-charge at HD+ Replay, but enable viewers access through their conventional TV set in TV broadcast quality.
HD+ Replay can be tested for three months free of charge. After the trial period, access costs €15 for a further three months. Customers signing up for the extension this year and activating it by 31 December 2013 will be granted another six months access, meaning users can secure access for one year for a total of €15.
To use HD+ Replay, an HD+ Smart TV satellite receiver connected to the Internet is needed. The data rate should be at least 6Mbps. Ten different receiver models are currently on the market, and more are to follow.
In 2014, HD+ wants to introduce another reception possibility so that HD+ Replay will be available on selected connected TV set models from LG and Hisense no need for a set-top box. The service will be integrated as an application on the TVs. Functions, offerings and price structure will be identical to the receiver version. HD+ is in discussions with further TV set manufacturers about an app solution.
