Leading US cable operator Mediacom Communications is to use as its flagship delivery platform the Pace MG1 multi-tuner media gateway with TiVo’s user interface.
The gateway will enable the cableco to offer multiscreen, multi-room connected entertainment services and Mediacom will begin roll out of the product across its footprint including its largest markets in Iowa, Illinois, Minnesota, Georgia, and Florida.
This deployment marks the latest in a longstanding partnership between the two companies dating back to 2006 and a key consideration in Mediacom’s selection of the Pace platform was its ability to offer an integrated whole-home DVR solution. Commenting on the new deal, JR Walden, SVP Technology at Mediacom, said: “We’re confident that in combining TiVo’s feature-rich UI with Pace’s cutting-edge Media Gateway, we have a winning combination for our subscribers that offers a great linear TV experience alongside IP content on multiple devices around the home.”
Added Tim O’Loughlin, President of Pace Americas: “Operators want to deliver the very best customer experience in today’s competitive marketplace, and the MG1 provides just that: a versatile, high-performance hybrid QAM/IP platform. Pace has been fortunate to be able to partner with Mediacom for a number of years, and this new development only serves to strengthen that relationship.”
