Rising Star shines as Keshet closes Hungarian format deal

Hungarian commercial television channel TV2 has inked a deal with Keshet International to air the latter’s talent show Rising Star.
Rising Star is an interactive talent format that hails a new era in home entertainment. Its launch marks the first real-time voting by viewers via a free app ‘TV app to you’ that is fully integrated into the show. Over nine million votes have been tallied through the app, which has been downloaded more than 1.5 million times
The global distribution and production arm of Keshet Media Group has recently closed deals that will see local adaptations in France (M6 Group), Russia (Rossiya 1), Germany (RTL), Italy (Toro) and Scandinavia (Nordisk). The company’s catalogue includes hit drama Prisoners of War, the original Israeli version of prime time Emmy winner Homeland and International Emmy Award winning comedy Traffic Light.
TV2 will air the show in autumn 2014 by which time ABC in the US will have aired ten episodes of the show. Keshet added that ABC beat several competitors for the rights to show the programme it is market.
