Spain's Atresmedia has purchased the rights to the Israeli talent show Rising Star, which was one of the most in-demand formats at MIPCOM this year.
The format completely integrates the second-screen concept in a singing competition. Through the TV App to You app, viewers can take part in the programme and vote live.
Originally produced by Tedy Productions for Keshet Broadcasting, the format will be adapted for Spanish viewers by Atresmedia. The show has achieved great success in Israel with an average audience share of 44%. The format is broadcast by Israel's Channel 2 and has broken audience records. The app has been downloaded 1.5 million times and over nine million votes have been registered through it.
Rising Star will be also adapted in France (M6), Germany (RTL) and Russia (Rossiya 1). It has also been sold to Italy, the Nordics and Hungary, and has even gone over to the United States, where ABC will start producing the first ten episodes, to premiere in 2014, once the similar shows American Idol, The X Factor and The Voice have finished.
