Telefónica has reached an agreement with Eurosport to broadcast Roland Garros in Spain through its IPTV platform Movistar TV. The deal extends until 2017, although the exclusivity among pay-TV platforms is only valid for the next tournament in 2014.
At present, Telefónica is the only operator that will broadcast Roland Garros in Spain in 2014, through Eurosport and Eurosport2.
The two channels' simultaneous broadcasting will enable viewers to choose between matches played at the same time. Movistar TV will also offer the competition on its multiscreen platform GO, making Roland Garros available on tablets, PCs and smartphones.
The next edition of the French Grand Slam will be hold in Paris between 20 May and 8 June 2014. In addition to Roland Garros, Movistar TV will also show the US Open, Australian Open and the ATP tournaments of Doha, Queen's, Eastbourne, Estoril and Düsseldorf.
