Telefónica in Spain has launched Archivo Digital Cloud, a cloud-based solution to manage audiovisual content.

Targeting local media companies, Telefónica will offer the solution to those wanting to manage large amounts of content using its hosting and storage facilities at the Alcalá Data Centre in Madrid.

The Spanish telco's solution is claimed to deliver the typical advantages of a cloud system: flexible, customised to customers’ needs, and removing the need to make capital investments in software and hardware as well as maintenance. Archivo Digital Cloud is also attributed with simplifying content management, adding functions to traditional audiovisual storage.

The system’s business model is payment by consumption with content available online 24/7, speeding up the publication process. A platform to allow different formats and devices can be also integrated in the system, bringing the opportunity for the customers to launch their contents directly on tablets, smartphones or computers.

Archivo Digital also offers tools to improve the media-viewer relation and analysing customers' activity to personalise the service. According to Telefónica, the new consumption habits call for a complete digital transformation in the media industry. But the resources are not always available for it, which is why third party solutions appear to simplify the process.
