Sky opens movie store to all

Sky has extended the availability of its Sky Store movie rental service to everyone in the UK and the Republic of Ireland.

Access is possible through the Sky Store website, NOW TV, Roku and YouView. The 1,200-title availability very much take the fight to Netflix and Lovefilm.

Nicola Bamford, Director of Sky Store, commented: “Millions of Sky TV customers already enjoy the choice and value of Sky Store. Now we’re delighted that millions more homes can access hundreds of box office smashes alongside best-loved movie classics.”

Latest releases, such as Man of Steel, The Hangover Part 3, Despicable Me 2 and The Lone Ranger are available for £3.49 each. Classics such as The Godfather, Forrest Gump, Top Gun and Austin Powers are available in a range between 99p and £1.99.

Customers can watch the movies for a 48-hour period from the moment they press play.

2.1 million rentals were made in three-month period to September 30, 2013.
