France 24 announces new design, programmes, slogan

French international news channel France 24 is celebrating its seven year anniversary with the launch of a new design and eye-catching slogan.

With slogan 'Liberté, Egalité, Actualité', the channel, which belongs to France Médias Monde, wants to focus on its French roots. The new design has been created by the Gédéon agency.

Other fresh ideas to be introduced on 12 December include new programmes – with the launch of new TV shows, longer news editions and less re-runs – and a new website.

Broadcast in three languages – French, English and Arabic – France 24 also aims to strengthen each feed individually in order to build specific programming for each.

France 24 currently reaches 253 million households worldwide and is carried in 177 countries.

The accumulated audience in 55 countries amounts to 41.7 million viewers and 14 million visits (+30%). The channel also claims 6.5 million subscribers on the social networks and seven million video views each month.

Commenting on broadcasting in France, CEO Marie-Christine Saragosse has said that the French State has set aside a frequency to enable France 24 to broadcast on the Paris area's DTT network.
