Countdown begins for Pakistan Idol

The first episode of the highly anticipated musical talent show Pakistan Idol is to be aired on this evening (6 December) by Geo TV.

The judging panel comprises country singer Hadiqa Kiani, singer, actress and comedian Bushra Ansari, and rock singer Ali Azmat. The series will be hosted by film and television celebrity Mohib Mirza.

Pakistan Idol marks the 50th local adaption of the hit television series created by Simon Fuller, produced by 19 Entertainment TV and distributed by FremantleMedia Enterprises.

Geo TV acquired the rights in 2007 to re-version the Pop Idol format for Pakistan, but production was halted due to security concerns.

Auditions were finally held for the show in Islamabad during September and October 2013, and young aspiring singers, aged 18 to 25 have been selected to perform for the reality TV show.
