Qualy TV has launched its pay-TV service in Costa Rica. Supported by the direct-to-home (DTH) Media Networks platform, the satellite service will start offering 53 SD signals and four premium film packages to the country.

Albavisión Group, the owner of Qualy TV, thus reinforces its presence in Central America and the Caribbean. The network has already launched in Guatemala in March and will be offered in Nicaragua, Honduras, El Salvador and Dominican Republic via Media Networks' DTH platform.

"We are very pleased to help Qualy TV's development, an operation which consolidates Media Networks leadership as the main DTH distributor in Latin America," said Óscar Castillo, commercial manager at Telefónica's subsidiary for Mexico, Central America and the Caribbean.

Qualy TV's satellite service targets families, offering a wide catalogue of children's and sports programming, plus the country's free-to-air schedule.

Media Networks has wide experience in the Latin American DTH market, and it currently operates in Brazil, Mexico, Chile, Colombia and Peru, among others, in addition to Spain and the US.
