Cool OSCAM Hashed Tables (beta code-release)

    Hello,

We released a hashed-tables version of Oscam, for lower CPU load with Cache-EX.
Besides that, this is basically a complete overhaul on Cache-EX.

    Release notes: http://www.streamboard.tv/wbb2/threa...205#post489205

    Download as patch: http://www.streamboard.tv/wbb2/attac...chmentid=47158
    Enjoy! (code-credits go to blueven@streamboard).

Re: OSCAM Hashed Tables (beta code-release)

I have a little probblem Cap'.
    my old config:

    oscam cardserver-oscam client cache-ex
protocol to send cache : cccam
    all works great.

    my new config:
    oscam-cardserver patched HT-oscam-client cache-ex ht patchet.
first can only recive using Cccam protocol -second send cache to the first OK!
    where are the probblem?
using camd35 and cs378x is ok

I'l test this maybe today if i'm not too lazy this afternoon

Thanks for the post, i've been waiting for this since r871x where the cache size went up and with it the load on the cpu. i'l post on stream if all goes well.

I have no idea.. Here CC-Cam works fine in both ways.
Any logs ? Config ? To make your program technically visible ?

    Thx

Re: OSCAM Hashed Tables (beta code-release)

I tested over 16 hours, only cccam protocol, mode 3. Already gained some experience, and I can say that works very stable with minimal use of CPU resources!

    Congratulations on a great job!

Re: OSCAM Hashed Tables (beta code-release)

Some general 'advice' points on using HT:

    - "Incoming" cache (e.g. pushed in - mode/2/3/CSP) has near-to-no CPU load (e.g.: 'CacheSize' is not anymore bound to "CPU Load")
    - "Outgoing" cache (e.g. pushed out - mode/2/3/CSP) consumes CPU (!).

    Therefore..:

    - Enlargen all incoming, since that improves the hit-rate. (e.g.: remove CAID filters, set cacheex_maxhop = 3 to all incoming peers).
    - Enlargen max_time to e.g. 60 sec. / max_hit_time to 60sec.
    - Keep outgoing cache low, to save CPU.

Also, in this HT, the whole 'group - loopback' discussion is also over. No more "one group", apply as you please ;)

There is much more.. but lets first see some more results.

Re: OSCAM Hashed Tables (beta code-release)

Great job, Cap and blueven@streamboard, finally something good about oscam cache, probably I will reconsider to switch back after this implementation.

Sorry about the link to local forum but from here you can download platform related builds with HT patch included.

    http://www.satsupreme.com/showthread...-hashed-tables

Personally I am little worried about cache ex and sharing protocols development in the future from oscam team - please read the comment bellow.
But I will help if we cardsharing enthusiasts create some branch focused only to cardsharing conception.

    theparasol

Sorry, I dont do cache-ex, I use oscam merely as a softcam on my enigma2 receiver to watch television with my subscription cards placed in internal readers.
You must see the remarks in that light, no cache-ex, just oscam dvbapi to send ecm and emm and pull cw's from my local cards.
In that case your patch loads the cpu a little bit more, but is very minor.
People that do use cache-push will notice a very big decrease in cpu load and increase in cache hits.

Many people may see oscam as a sharing tool but keep in mind:

    OPEN SOURCE COMMON ACCESS MODULE

And that will still be the first and sole purpose for my point of view.
I'll try to add code and fixes to enable oscam to watch television and make new cards and internal readers work.
    Cheers

@Turbopower: No worries. Oscam is what it is, and it supports cache.
Parasol only states his point of view on oscam, thats fine.
