Continuing its spread of business across the world, global media content company A+E Networks has formed a Rome-based company to launch and operate branded channels and services in Italy.
The newly formed A+E Networks Italy will begin life offering Crime + Investigation (CI) on Sky Italia on 16 December, and is working with its current partner, Fox International Channels (FIC), to assume full ownership of HISTORY Italy in early 2014, one of the country’s leading factual brands. A+E also says that it will commit to “timely and relevant” programming to Italian audiences, also airing original productions and featuring local talent and experts.
“The formation of A+E Networks Italy marks an important milestone for A+E Networks as it is our first wholly-owned operation in Europe,” commented Nancy Dubuc, president and CEO, A+E Networks. “We are committed to continued international expansion of our brands and business, and we are excited about growth opportunities throughout Italy and all of Europe.”
“We are very excited for the launch of CI, which is available exclusively to Sky subscribers,” added Andrea Scrosati, executive vice president programming of Sky Italia. “We look forward to building a successful relationship with A+E Networks, whom we consider to be one of our key partners, to develop better and stronger content for our service … CI further strengthens Sky Italia’s exclusive channel line-up, making our basic offer the most comprehensive in the Italian market.”
