Showing that sport isn’t the only game in town when it comes to content, BT has closed its first carriage agreement with Sony Pictures Television (SPT) Networks for its general entertainment channel, Sony Entertainment Television.
One of SPT’s global channel brands, and said to reach over seven million viewers, the channel features light and scripted entertainment including feature films and television series from Hollywood studios.
SPT Networks will operate a bespoke version of the channel for the UK, also scheduling British television series. Sony Entertainment Television will be offered through the BT TV Entertainment and Unlimited Extra IPTV packages with viewers able to access series such as Will and Grace, Life on Mars and Jane Eyre as well as feature films such as Seven Years in Tibet, Master and Commander and My Cousin Vinnie.
“Sony Entertainment Television continues to grow its audience year on year … With BT being one of the UK’s fastest growing platforms, we look forward to expanding our carriage with this new audience,” commented Kate Marsh, SVP for Western Europe, SPT Networks. Added Alex Green, director, BT TV: “[Our] channel range continues to grow. We’re delighted to be able to offer our customers the fantastic TV series and films that are available on Sony Entertainment Television.”
