Eutelsat - Communications System Control Centre (Rambouillet, France)The South East European DTH platform Total TV is likely to expand to new markets, according to Apostolos Triantafyllou, regional VP sales, CE Europe, Caucasus and Central Asia, Commercial Department, Eutelsat.
Speaking exclusively to Broadband TV News, he added that Total TV is one of the company’s main regional successes and can offer the same content across multiple technologies.
Commenting on Freesat, the Romanian satellite service launched in May this year, Triantafyllou said it is the most cost-effective distribution platform for Romanian channels.
Indeed, 6-7 such channels have been added to the 16 degrees East orbital position since Freesat made its debut.
Triantafyllou said that the introduction of HbbTV was on the agenda for a number of platforms in the region.
He also revealed that Eutelsat has been approached by two content companies looking to launch cookery channels in the Balkans/SEE region.
Interestingly, Triantafyllou also said that there is a now a trend for broadcasters to approach the company directly rather than through an operator.
He added: “Eutelsat is very close to its clients. Its relationships are dedicated to serve them and help them grow.”
