Entertainment channel Tele 5 and sports channel Eurosport will continue to distribute their services on digital terrestrial (DTT) frequencies in northern Germany as local media authority MA HSH has extended their DTT licences until 7 November 2024.
Tele 5 is distributed in federal state Schleswig-Holstein through transmitter sites in Kiel and Lübeck while Eurosport covers the city-state of Hamburg. Both services are available 24 hours a day.
The media authority has also launched a new tender for a 24-hour TV channel slot via DTT in Hamburg. The slot has formerly been occupied by Channel 21 and euronews and was already part of a tender in September 2013, as MA HSH spokeswoman Simone Bielfeld told Rapid TV News. As the tender wasn't successful, the media authority is no trying to allocate the capacity for the second time. Interested parties have until 30 December 2013 to submit their applications. The slot will be available from 1 January 2014 with the allocation being made for a ten-year period.
