Haier pushes TV with smart on the side

Chinese manufacturer Haier is promoting its Android HDMI device to transform its latest TV into a smart TV in time for Christmas.

The company is targeting Spanish customers who are unsure about whether to purchase a smart TV or not, giving them the opportunity to transform the set in the future for a reasonable price.

According to Europa Press, Haier believes that the range of smart TVs is increasing and that the market will become saturated with very expensive devices, while most customers have other technologies at home to transform their screens, such as consoles or set-top boxes (STB). This is the reason behind Haier's seasonal promotion of the Android Dongle Sm@rt TV kit.
The device is connected to the TV via HDMI and has a Dual Core ARM 1.6GHz processor, 1GB RAM and Android 4.1 Jelly Bean. It needs an independent power source (which is included) and has its own remote control. The Dongle includes some basic software and is compatible most TV programmes on Google Play.
Haier has been offering the smart device since summer (with a price of 129), but now plans to reinforce its presence in the market while presenting it together with its new TV: the 40" Full HD series B650.
