French production company Samka, formerly known for animated series, is diversifying into drama and has signed a co-development agreement with France Télévisions Distribution for six foreign series formats.

This non-exclusive deal states that over an initial two-year period, Samka's new drama division headed by Samuel and Stéphane Kaminka, will develop several series formats aimed at the European market.
The first will be an adaptation of the Israeli series Pillars of Smoke (Timrot Ashan), an 18 x 42' thriller produced by Herzella Studios.
Another original format is being co-penned with Israeli prodco TTV.
