Claro is to launch its over-the-top (OTT) streaming VOD platform Clarovideo next week in Argentina, where it already operates as telecom provider.

The subsidiary of America Movil will launch the platform with a library of films and TV shows, and will make blockbuster movies available a few weeks after their premiere. It will be a subscription model but customers will be able to pay for single content under the pay-per-view system.

“We are happy to be able to offer to our Argentinian customers one of the most advanced entertainment services at the moment”, said Fernando del Río, Claro's commercial director. “The platform brings access to international VOD content adapted to Argentinian preferences and in Spanish”.

Clarovideo is already available in Mexico, Brazil, Colombia, Chile and Dominican Republic, and it has eyed Peru and Ecuador as its next destinations.
