Arte's audience grows 33% in last two years

The French-German cultural channel Arte has revealed a positive round-up of 2013 with its audience share reaching 2% in France against 1.8% in 2012 and 1.5% in 2011, representing a 11% growth over the whole year and a 33% growth in the last two years.

The channel says that its global audience share reached historical peaks in both countries as the channel also registered a 17% growth in Germany over 2013.

Such growth is driven by all genres of programmes, according to Arte, and touches all time slots with a particular focus on access prime time (up 17%) and the second part of the evening (up 19%).

Arte also points out a significant growth on all screens and devices. Website showed an average of 10.8 million visits, up 28% compared to 2012. Mobile audiences also saw an upward trend last year, as smartphones and tablet apps totalled an average of 1.5 million visits.

Last year, some 880,000 Arte apps were downloaded, making a total of 2.4 million apps.

The catch-up tv service Arte+7 attracted an average of eight million video views each month, up 39% against 5.8 million in 2012.

Arte's 28 Facebook pages have now attracted 1.5 million fans, while more than 300,000 subscribers are following the channel's 19 Twitter accounts.
