Fleur Pellerin to meet Netflix boss at CES

Fleur Pellerin, the French Minister for Innovation and Digital Economy, will meet Reed Hastings, Netflix CEO, at CES next week, according to Les Echos.
Flying to Las Vegas to promote French commerce to US entrepreneurs and back the 90 French companies registered at the tradeshow, she's also said to want Netflix to launch in France.
After two of the company's representatives met with French presidential staff in early December, Pellerin wants to convince the video streaming platform to launch in France, create jobs and invest in French programme creation.
Despite the French TV regulator CSA's recommendation to reduce the video-on-demand (VOD) delay after a film's first theatrical release from four to three months, and the 36-month subscription video-on-demand (SVOD) availability to 24 months, Fleur Pellerin is however not expected to talk about these changes. The current timings is what Canal+'s pay-TV success is based on. And Netflix's arrival in France would reshuffle the cards.
