Indian DTH operators air too few DD channels

Three of India's six private direct-to-home (DTH) satellite operators have been sent ministerial show cause notices for not showing all of the mandatory TV channels from state broadcaster Doordarshan (DD).

The Information and Broadcasting Ministry has issued notices to Tata Sky, Reliance Digital TV and Sun Direct, according to Indian Television.com.

It is obligatory for all DTH operators in India to provide their subscribers with the following 24 DD channels: DD National, DD News, DD Bharati, DD Urdu, DD Sports, DD India, DD Kashir, DD Punjabi, DD Girnar, DD Sahyadri, DD Saptagiri, DD Malayalam, DD Podhigai, DD Chandana, DD Bangla, DD North East, DD Bihar, DD Uttar Pradesh, DD Rajasthan, DD Madhya Pradesh, DD Oriya, Gyan Darshan, Lok Sabha TV and Rajya Sabha TV.
