Autentic and WDR join forces

German media company Autentic and WDR mediagroup, the commercial subsidiary of public broadcaster ARD's regional affiliate WDR, have set up a joint venture for the distribution of documentaries.
Autentic Distribution GmbH will market the complete catalogue of non-fictional productions of both partners.
The Cologne-based company will also offers programmes from other domestic and international producers and media enterprises. Contracts with the first clients have already been signed. The general manager of the 50:50 joint venture is Anne Hufnagel.
"The development of the market calls for a strong, genre-specific distribution system that uses the most modern technology," Autentic's CEO Patrick Hörl said. "We have set up the infrastructure in such a way that we can also deliver rapidly to purely digital clients such as VOD platforms."
