Quentin Tarantino's Django Unchained has been the most popular movie in 2013 on the video-on-demand (VOD) service Select Video provided by Germany's largest cable operator Kabel Deutschland.
The second most popular movie was The Hobbit: An Unexpected Journey followed by Oblivion with Tom Cruise. In the TV series segment, US series Breaking Bad was the leader. The last episodes were available to Select Video users directly after their US debut in the original English language.
More than three million households in Kabel Deutschland's coverage area can currently use the online video library. In spring, the reach is expected to grow to 50% of all Kabel Deutschland households.
Select Video offers around 2,800 movies from 17 studios on-demand, partially in parallel with their DVD release. The TV catch-up service segment contains additional 4,300 pieces of content from 47 TV channels including RTL, Sat.1, ProSieben, VOX, History and Syfy. More than 60% of the content is available in HD quality.
